This beautiful and peaceful nation is located in the Central American region, between the countries of Nicaragua and Panama. It is a little but exotic nation, know worldwide for being one of the only countries in the world that does not possess an army. This factor has contributed to the stability the country is famous for. The money saved from disbanding the army had been put in to the education and health of the Costa Rican people.
The Costa Ricans
Described as the friendliest people in the Americas, they always give you a big smile and make you feel at home. “Pura Vida” is heard every where you go, this expression, that can be translated to “Pure Life” summarizes their way of life.

Our Country
This tropical paradise is blessed with wonderful weather through out the year. There are two main seasons, which are summer from December to May. and the green season beginning in June until the end of November. The temperature is very stable, varying from 20°C to 30°C about 80 to 90°F

The Economy: Tourism & Produce
The Costa Rican economy is based mainly on ecotourism, as well as the export of crops such as coffee, bananas, flowers and products of high technology. Despite the country’s small size, it is estimated the Costa Rica possesses 5% of the world’s biodiversity. The strategic position between North and South America, the beautiful climate, and the conservation efforts made by the government, are some of the characteristics that contribute to its natural richness. Costa Rica is proud that 25% of its territory is protected by the National park system.

A protected Ecosystem
Amongst the ecosystems protected by the national parks you will find rain forests, cloud forests, dry forests, coral reefs, mangroves. The flora and fauna are extraordinary. In the rain forests for example you can find many endangered species such as monkeys, macaws, jaguars, sloth’s, tapirs and poisonous frogs.

Just in the Central Pacific alone, where Del Mar Surf Camp is located, you will find several parks and reserves such as Carara that protects giant crocodiles and macaws, Playa Hermosa Wildlife Refuge where the Olive Ridley sea turtles migrate to nest and Manuel Antonio National Park that gives refuge to the last colony of spider monkeys.

Surfing is an incredible experience, with river mouth breaks, beach breaks and reef breaks close to the area, you can’t fail to be impressed!!
Costa Rica has so much to offer … it is a country that will turn your vacation into the trip of your dreams, filled with new experiences, new friends and a life time of memories.
