Nosara Beach, Guanacaste

After running Del Mar Surf Camp for seven years in the Central Pacific area of Costa Rica, Maria began traveling around the country to find a second home for Del Mar Surf Camp. Her travels and great surfing adventures, led her to an area called NOSARA in the North Pacific. Known for its pristine beaches and gorgeous, lush vegetation, this area is truly a tropical paradise. The quality and consistency of the waves makes this beach an ideal place for the Costa Rica Surfing Chicas, and its flat beachbreak allows surfing both in low and high tide, or two sessions each day.

Nosara has two breathtaking beaches: Playa Guiones and Playa Pelada. Both have light colored sand, warm clear water, and are protected by a wildlife refuge so the jungle comes right down to the sand. Playa Guiones is known for its perfect waves while Playa Pelada is protected by some reefs and is a favorite spot for families. They are both incredible!

Here in Playa Guiones, Maria was reunited with Angie, a childhood friend whom she had lost touch with. While catching up, they both realized they were at a place in their life where they could join forces to create the Del Mar Surf Camp Nosara. They both shared the love for surfing and a healthy lifestyle, and while Maria contributed seven years of experience in the surf camp business, Angie complemented her with her hospitality and service background.  

In order to give the Nosarian version of Del Mar a true “camp feel” Maria and Angie picked a fantastic location as a base. The Nosara Beach house offers the perfect accommodations for small groups, allowing personalized attention just steps away from the beach. They put together a healthy and delicious menu to keep the clients strong during the intensive surfing camp, and combined it with a few dinners out at the best local restaurants. They also included daily yoga sessions and relaxing massages in the program in order to help the girls feel grounded, strong and relaxed.

Finally, they put together a fully qualified and 100% local team to guide the groups through their surf camp experience in the best way, including surf instructors, yoga teachers and massage practitioners.
